It is a standard of practice that RTs practice within the ethical and legislative
framework that influences the practice of respiratory therapy. In other words, you must ensure that you satisfy any other legislative requirements regarding the authority to perform controlled acts, authorized acts, and procedures that may be required by your practice setting, for example, the Public Hospitals Act or the Independent Health Facilities Act.
